Good summary of how the online reaction to Daft Punks new single has progressed. We’ve been listening to various fan edits and fake leaks all week, and enjoyed them all!

This morning’s ‘leaks’ have previously unheard lyrics, and the latest rumors are that the single will be premiering on radio tonight. The wait is almost over! (But what if Daft Punk’s edit isn’t as good as the fan edits?!)

Daft Punk are releasing their fourth studio album on May 21. They’ve officially released a one-minute teaser featuring this song, but this video sure sounds like it could be the full track.

But lots of people like making pretend Daft Punk leaks, so who knows?!

I often hear about these gross conflicts of interest in American politics.

Apparently this politician is deciding whether to send immigrants to prison (or deport them), and yet he’s receiving life changing sums of money from the prison companies, who stand to make billions from the legislation.

Does this sort of thing happen in the UK?

This paper is pretty interesting about how children perceive the world and struggle to distinguish between what they’ve imagined and what’s real. I started reading from the bottom of page 25, about the experiment where kids are asked to imagine a monster in a box, and whether its really there. They say “no”, but then often behave like maybe it is real.

The paper considers a few possible reasons children do this, but also points out that even adults do this! How many of us struggle to go to sleep after watching something disturbing or scary?

I never thought of cycling like this, but it totally makes sense.

And I’ve always associated bikes with escaping…

Bikes are self-propelled, but after a point they just seem to take over. That saying, “It’s like riding a bike,” is so pervasive, because bike-riding is in our bones. You can’t forget how to ride a bike, because the act is itself a sort of forgetting. A few pedals, and the world whizzes past in a blur. Cars are like little rooms, big enough to carry multiple passengers and, thus, their own set of problems. Buses are even bigger and compound that effect. But a bike is made for one person, and it seems to move just fast enough that problems can’t catch up.
