A picture came up in my feeds today that inspired me to post this picture Caroline and I took in Hiroshima last Summer. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi. I'm Matthew and I don't use soap. (if that disgusts you, you should probably not read any more!)

It's been 4 weeks today since I last used soap or anything other than water on my body, and three weeks since I last shampooed. After 4 weeks of feeling manky, I think the tables might be starting to turn! My hair is thick with waxy grease still, but shows some signs that the grease might clear. I'm not as sweaty and don't think I smell noticeably (I hope!)

The thing that's kept me going is that my head is less itchy and I haven't had any spots! (except an early batch)

Clever followers; I come to you with a question.

Do you need a frame of reference against which to measure rotational velocity?

Or, is there such a thing as 'not spinning'? (What I mean is, you might say there is no such thing as 'not moving' (referring to linear velocity) since you need to provide a frame of reference to say what it isn't moving relative to.)

Finally, is it a valid question to ask 'how fast is the Sun rotating?' without providing (or implying) a frame of reference?

Useful for any railcard holder (like 16-25 young persons railcard). You can get it linked to you oyster for lower daily caps. But you have to have some difficult conversations with ticket office workers. Instructions here for the ticket office man http://www.oyster-rail.org.uk/railcard-discounts/

"Fancy cheaper tube fares? They're yours if you have a Gold Card. That's the special bonus bit of cardboard given to everyone in London and the southeast who buys an annual travelcard for their train journeys. A Gold Card saves one-third off all off-peak fares on National Rail (mine saves me a packet every time I head out of town to the seaside or somewhere). And now, as of this month, it saves one-third off all off-peak fares on London Underground too. Who knew?"
