I’ve got a couple of discoveries to share that might help you control which photos end Jo in your iPad when syncing from Aperture 3.
I wanted to be able to sync and have an event or album for each project, which is generally an event in my library. However, i don’t want every single photo I’ve saved from each event. Syncing a smart album that collects my good photos (4+ stars) meant all my photos were in one big bucket.
However, after playing around, I found that rejected photos don’t get synced, and more interestingly, only the pick from stacks get synced.

I made a pinhole lens with the body cap of my Canon 450D camera. I was really happy with the results! It gives a lovely aged effect to the photos. Read the rest of this entry »


I got a book about taking photos. It was cheap, but turns out that when it was written, any camera worth using was still analogue or wet. It talks a lot about chemicals and filters and film. However – I’m sure most of the concepts are still the same with digital photography, so I’m looking forward to developing some skills.
The first thing I’ve played with is the rule of thirds. Apparently you shouldn’t normally put your subject in the middle of the photo. Who knew?! I had a go at cropping photos taken at Kew Gardens a couple of weeks ago using the rule of thirds. Has it made the photos more vivid and captivating? Read the rest of this entry »
