I think I just read the worst spoiler I’ve ever read. The earliest I could get tickets to see Dark Knight Rises at IMAX, after figuring out what to do with Oscar, was 18 August; one full month after the movie was released. I’ve been diligently limiting access to discussion, comments, trailers etc, but made a slip up today.

[no spoilers here]

I read the linked to post. It didn’t mention there would be spoilers, and the first section wasn’t spoilery. Then I started reading the second section. I should have stopped as soon as I saw the words “One part of The Dark Knight Rises that did surprise me…” But I just didn’t think quick enough.

I don’t actually know if its a spoiler. I stopped as soon as I saw the word that made my head explode. I guess I’ll find out in just over 2 weeks.

By the way – please don’t respond to let me know any more information… I’m going to do my best to forget what I read, and not think about it. I just wanted to share the pain I experienced.

Dark Knight Rises soundtrack

July 13th, 2012

I’ve been listening to bits of the soundtrack for Dark Knight Rises over the last couple of days. It’s really good. It’s very familiar from Dark Knight’s soundtrack, but more aggressive and soaring.

Batman Begins had a fairly restrained soundtrack, reflecting Bruce Wayne searching for Batman’s identity. Dark Knight felt more complete, and introduced Joker’s uncertainty. Dark Knight Rises takes that solidification of Batman’s identity a step further, embodying Gotham’s Dark Knight.

I found Dark Knight’s soundtrack left me wanting. The aggressive tracks ended just as they felt like they were going to get going. Dark Knight Rises brings that conclusion.

Bane’s influence is good. Joker gave the soundtrack a reckless, unsettling feel. Bane brings a solidity, and sometimes military precision.

If the soundtracks reflect the progression of the movies, the final installments of Nolan’s Batman trilogy is going to be awesome.

I was disappointed how few of the clips I recognised. Anyway, the video is pretty awesome.

Star Wars vs Tron: Legacy

June 20th, 2011

Fairly mindless entertainment, but it works way better than the Oliver vs Tron: Legacy mashup that did the rounds a few months ago.
