Joshua Micheal Russell

June 10th, 2014

Joshua Micheal Russell was born at 0710, 10th June 2014. He weighed a rather hefty 3.97kg (8lb 12). This time, the labour was over pretty quickly! Again, Caroline skipped all the build up, and was fully-dilated when we got to the hospital, and from there the delivery went fairly smoothly. It was tough on Caroline though, because she was low on iron, fluids and sleep before even starting the birth! So she spent one night in hospital recovering.

Thanks everyone for moral support, prayers and well-wishing.

Especially big thanks to Nan-Nan, for already being at our house to look after Oscar! He had lots of fun with walks and ice cream, waiting to meet his baby brother.

Oscar is SIX months old!

August 9th, 2012

Oscar has just turned 6 months old! The time has gone pretty quick, but it’s hard to remember life without him. Except being able to go see a movie before spoilers ruin it.

He’s still not written his first app, but he’s learned a lot since getting yanked into the world. Here’s a quick run through… Read the rest of this entry »

Mummy and Oscar enjoying the Spring at Cousin Andrew and Pip’s wedding.

The wedding was lovely, and we enjoyed taking some pictures in the grounds, with the flowers.

Daddy practiced using Aperture’s brushes to balance out the shadows, and wants to show off this picture.

Oscar John Russell was born at 0015, 5th February 2012 (by c-section). He weighed in at a hefty 4.28kg (that’s 9 lb 7!). It was a long labour, and very tiring for Caroline, but Oscar was calm and healthy throughout, and Caroline did a tremendous job!

Thanks everyone for moral support, prayers and well-wishing.

Especially big thanks to John, our neighbour, for stepping in where our car failed, to my mum for coming down from Rotherham to help but then being stuck alone for 13 hours in the hospital 🙁 and to the midwives, doctors, anaesthetist and many assistants at The Lister delivery unit that got Oscar out of Caroline safely.

Thanks for joining in our labour!

What’s happening to the Mac Pro?

November 4th, 2011

I own a Mac Pro, and my brother has been considering getting one for HD video editing of amateur/no-budget movies. The market for the Mac Pro has been shrinking for a while with many people that would have previously chosen a Mac Pro, choosing an iMac or MacBook Pro. The recent rumours of Apple considering ending the product line has given me pause to consider what the future might be for computer users with high needs.

I’ve written a series of articles exploring the future of the Mac Pro. I’ve split it to consider the wider context separately from Apple and the Mac Pro itself. Read the rest of this entry »

Making of Tron: Legacy – Audio Awesome mix

May 19th, 2011

This is an outline of how I produced my Tron: Legacy Audio Awesome Soundtrack mix, which you can read more about and download here.

A warning: This post is quite long, and has a fair bit of detail. I wanted to put this info out there, but haven’t spent a huge amount of time tidying it up or making it digestible. Ask questions in the comments if you’d like more info or clarification.

Tron: Legacy – Audio Awesome Soundtrack Mix

May 13th, 2011

The whole of Tron: Legacy ties together so well visually, musically and aurally. Rather than produce a pure music edit that’s faithful to the film, I selectively blended in the audio from the movie to increase the power of some moments.

The Royal Wedding 2011

The Royal Wedding 2011

Some of Matthew’s family came down to London for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. We headed down the night before to try and find a good spot to soak up the atmosphere and be a part of the occasion.

While we were on the streets, I did my best to post updates and photos to the website.

We had lots of fun. It was really quite uncomfortable, trying to sleep in a camping chair. It got surprisingly cold in the early hours of the morning, and at about 0500 we were starting to wonder if it was a good idea. As it brightened and warmed, the crowd grew, and we all had fun. The all nighters and new comers got along, sharing experiences, in between stretching to catch a glimpse of royalty.
