They're huge books! But some fascinating topics and exciting characters.
Now I can finally get on with doing something else 🙂

October 16th, 2010Really excited about Tron Legacy. Just seen an 8min preview. Music is brilliant. Looks, sounds and feels amazing. Seats were rumbling!
Original Tron was amusing. Quite cheesy, with dodgy computer jargon casually littered in the dialogue.

October 12th, 2010Back in 1837, the first 'modern' computer was conceived (100 years before Turing defined what a computer is). Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine was steam powered, but conceptually remarkably similar to modern computers. It has memory, a programmable processor, and even pipe-lining! Sadly it was never finished.
There's a project getting underway to build the Analytical Engine, which is the size of a truck! http://plan28.org/
They need 50000 pledges of £10 to get the project started. Pledge at http://www.pledgebank.com/babbage

October 7th, 2010I'm learning how to use custom search folders, and search in Outlook 2007. It's almost useful now!
I have myself an 'all mail' folder, and a combined inbox.
You can search for hasattachment:true, which is only a bit more painful that gmail's has:attachment 😛
Or from:bob
And the search isn't nearly as dog slow as Outlook 2003's
I might be able to set up rules to file my email now, without that causing me to be unable to spot new emails. Actually, that might be asking too much.

September 29th, 2010Matthew is sad. Apple don't want to sell him an iPhone 4, because the address registered with his bank account is different to the address on his driver's license.
Kyoto
September 4th, 2010We’ve spent a couple of days in Kyoto, and seen plenty of temples and shrines. Despite seeing lots of tourists dressed as geishas, we didn’t spot a real Geisha.
Miyajima
September 1st, 2010Miyajima is an island near Hiroshima. It’s mostly a large park and some smallish mountains, but has many shrines and is home to the well known floating torii gate and shrine. It is also full of deer. We went on the ferry for a day trip, while staying in Hiroshima.
Hiroshima
August 31st, 2010We’ve travelled to Hiroshima and spent the day exploring the sites. It’s a much smaller city than Osaka and Tokyo, but very lovely. Despite being small, it has a castle and temple and even a local speciality cuisine – Okonomi Yaki.
